Prevalence Of Epstain–Bar Virus Among Patients With Periodontitis In Al–Najaf Al–Ashraf / Iraq

Periodontitis, a complex chronic inflammatory disease caused by subgingival infection, is among the most prevalent microbial diseases in humans which characterized periodontal damage, alveolar bone resorption, pain, and eventual tooth loss. Epstein–Barr Virus (EBV) has widely infected >90% adults world associated with many human diseases, so that this study aimed to investigate association between EBV periodontitis. Patients samples: Subgingival paper point samples were collected from 100 patients periodontitis 30 healthy people. All undergo direct DNA extraction amplified EBVs using PCR technique. The results indicated high percentage of infections (18%) patient suffering while there was no infection detected persons. A female (56%) comparison male (44%). improved suggesting may serve as pathogenic factor leading patients.
